In Málaga province, infant (3–6), primary and special education classes begin on Thursday, 10 September 2026; secondary (ESO), bachillerato and vocational training begin on Tuesday, 15 September 2026; nursery schools (0–3) open on Thursday, 3 September 2026. The last day of classes is Thursday, 24 June 2027, and 24 May 2027 for second-year bachillerato.
Christmas holidays: 23 December 2026 to 6 January 2027; Semana Blanca: 22 February 2027 to 26 February 2027; Easter holidays (Semana Santa): 22 March 2027 to 28 March 2027. Days without classes besides: 12 October 2026 (Fiesta Nacional de España); 2 November 2026 (All Saints (moved from Sunday 1 November)); 7 December 2026 (Constitution Day (moved from Sunday 6 December)); 8 December 2026 (Immaculate Conception); 6 January 2027 (Epiphany); 26 February 2027 (Día de la Comunidad Educativa); 1 March 2027 (Día de Andalucía (moved from Sunday 28 February)); 25 March 2027 (Maundy Thursday); 26 March 2027 (Good Friday). Each municipality's two local holidays are not teaching days. Where a local holiday does not fall on a teaching day, 29 March and 3 May 2027 are taken instead: both when neither falls on a teaching day, 3 May when only one does. The education authority calls these dates provisional until the labour calendar is final.
The official list of local holidays gives Vélez-Málaga 2 October 2026 as a day without classes in this school year (official list of 2026 local holidays, BOJA núm. 197, 14 October 2025, as later amended). The official list of 2027 local holidays has not been published or has not been read here, so local holidays of 2027 are not recorded for Vélez-Málaga: a school day in 2027 is not confirmed on this page.
Saturday, 31 October 2026: no classes (Saturday). Classes are back on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. This answer is worked out from the calendar each time the page is opened.
For 2024/2025 the directory lists an early-morning room (aula matinal) at 40 schools in Vélez-Málaga, a canteen at 42 and school transport at 15; of the 17 public infant and primary schools, 17 have the early-morning room and 16 a canteen. In Andalusian public schools the early-morning room runs from 7:30 until classes begin, the canteen for up to two hours after them, and activities from 16:00 to 18:00; each school's own hours are its own.
The calendar fixes dates, not hours: every school sets its own timetable. Infant and primary schools in Andalusia customarily teach from 9:00 to 14:00, and secondary schools from about 8:15 to 14:45. The 3D map uses those customary hours to show when children arrive and leave, and says so.
